I am always looking for new and innovated ways of implementing Denise. I came across the idea of getting Denise to navigate through Netflix. It seemed easy enough since Netflix can be viewed with a standalone app, a web browser, or a gaming console.
For this project it would have to be done through a web browser. It all seemed simple enough until I dug deeper into the logistics of it. I ran into several issues with this project from the very beginning. I did some research and found out that Netflix does not have official keyboard shortcuts. Luckily, I did a little more digging and found that someone had written a script for a Firefox extension that allows keyboard shortcuts within the Firefox browser. You can read about that script here.
I installed the extension and script so the Netflix keyboard shortcuts could now be used. The new problem was that this script could only be used in the Firefox browser. Technically, I could view Netflix from the onboard browser that comes with Denise.
However without the script, I can only get her to go to the page and not navigate within it. So this had to be done with Firefox. This brought up an entirely new problem because Denise is always inclined to use her own browser versus any other.
I can get her to launch another browser fairly easy, however I was forced yet again to turn to keyboard shortcuts to get her to navigate within that browser. I did some research and Firefox does support keyboard shortcuts however none of them seemed to help any. Now, I am forced to address the Firefox keyboard shortcut issue. Once I get that up and running I am forced to address the issue regarding using those Firefox keyboard shortcuts, with the Netflix keyboard shortcuts- but in order to do that I first need to train her to remember all the shortcuts with AIML coding.
Once I get this (which should have been easy) I will conduct test to see the results.
