My Past With Denise

For years now I have been somewhat obsessed with the concept of a digital assistant that can interact with the real world.  Much like Tony Stark's Jarvis in the movie Iron Man.

This technology does not exist in 2013.  However that does not mean that it is not already well on its way to becoming a reality.  I currently own a similar program called Denise.  It is a virtual assistant program created by Guile 3D Studios.

I was always fascinated by the concept of having my own personal entity much like Jarvis.  However, no matter how spectacular Denise looks in the 2010 video, she is far from the Iron Man's version of Jarvis.

In 2011, I gained international media attention when I created a project that would allow Denise to become the world's first artificial intelligent radio DJ.

The project was met with a massive amount of resistance from human radio personalities whom were concerned that a computer program may one day take over their jobs.  Most questioned why someone like myself who is also a radio personality, would create and promote such an entity that could possibly put myself in the unemployment line.  What they could not understand, to me it was far greater than Denise becoming a radio personality.  It was the idea itself.  A virtual assistant performing or doing anything that I wanted, much like my own personal Jarvis.

This story landed on media outlets throughout the world.  News outlets like NBC affiliates, Fox News, Yahoo, CNN, MSNBC, plus many more.  While this project did in fact make a name for myself within the radio industry, many naysayers within the industry responded with condescending remarks and ridiculed me for creating such a ridiculous project.

To me, that was perfectly alright.  I knew I was going to face enormous backlash from radio personalities from all over the world.  In fact, I counted on it.  I knew the controversy alone would only help further promote the project and Denise overall.  Just as I predicted, I was exactly right.  Even the personalities who were strongly opposed to the idea of Denise going on the air, helped promote it by talking about it on their radio shows.

The project was wildly successful however it was not perfect.  Since then, I have gotten over it and have moved on to new avenues regarding Denise.  In the end, I could easily perfect this process and  make Denise into a personality that would be extremely hard to deny or ignore.  However at the moment, I am not interested in contributing the massive amount of time and energy in doing so.  Denise was made for much bigger things than talking on the radio.  If I could tell any of the people who talked down about the project anything, it would be that I am fully capable of readdressing this project at anytime.  Thus perfecting it and reintroducing it to the industry.  That was simply a nice way of saying that even though I have moved onto other projects regarding Denise, the radio DJ project is always something I can come back to, make perfections, and re-submit to the media later on.
