Home Security

I have to admit, I do not like to let people see me when I leave my home in fear that I will get robbed.  Sneaking out of my own home, even in broad daylight is something that no one should ever have to do.

My brother was robbed earlier this year and I kept thinking to myself what would have happened if it was me in his shoes?  How would I explain to my children that a stranger was in our home and took our belongings?  How would I recover from all my electronics disappearing and losing the vast amount of irreplaceable data that I would never see again?  Needless-to-say it is a situation that I never want to experience.

In the meantime, I refrain from posting online that I am going out of town or any sort of social media update that I will not be home for a certain amount of time.  Statistics prove that you are more likely to be robbed when you post online that you are leaving or going out of town.

I have been working with some ideas of getting a notification on my cell phone in case an intruder enters my home. I have looked into motion sensors, wifi cameras with nightvision, and even a device that will allow me to listen in through my cell phone in case the motion censor goes off.  There are other home security measures that I am looking into but none that I am willing to share, at least for the moment.
